FBC Women's Ministry Vision by Debi Duso

On Thursday, October 1st, we were pleased to present the new vision for the FBC Women's Ministry. We believe women are the heart of the church. The scripture that is the core of the vision is Romans 15: 5-6 "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. "

With that in mind, we have divided the ministry into four areas. Bible Study, God's Heart Speaking to Us; Prayer, Our Hearts Crying Out to God; Relationship, Our Hearts Loving our Christian Sisters; and Out Reach, Our Hearts Reaching Out to Neighbors and Nations.

Twelve women have felt called to be a part of the Women's Ministry Team. Each of these women have a passion for one of the four areas of the ministry.

Nancy Gassaway, Hope Huddleston, and Debi Duso are working with the Bible Study area. They have recruited some very competent leaders, Judy Brandon, Sandi Clark, and Rhonda Hutton. Currently, we are offering, "The Fingerprints of God" by Jennifer Rothschild. Later this Fall, we will offer "One in a Million" by Priscilla Shirer. This Spring we will offer "Esther" by Beth Moore.

Ember Sherman and Laverne Jackson have volunteered to lead the Relationship area which will include Teen Secret Pals offers an opportunity to be an encouragement to our high school Seniors. Craft, Cooking, and Crocheting Fellowships will give us an opportunity to get to know one another while working sharing our talents with one another. One thing in this area is a project called, "This is My Story" which a guided way to leave a living legacy about your life.

Cindy Boyer, Sylvia Barton, and Gracie Boyett are organizing the Prayer area. They are developing a Prayer Chain so that we can pass along urgent prayer requests within an hour. They have asked the women to commit to pray for the ministry for 40 days and have provided a handout with scriptures that will enhance this activity. Carolyn Watson has been recruited to head the Prayer Shawl ministry.

Liz Holt, Christy Campbell, Gayle White and Gayle Young have taken on the Out Reach area. They have wonderful plans which include "The Gathering" going out to help people who are unable to clean their yards for the winter and "The Gift" reaching out to women from Living Water at Christmas.

Gracie Boyett is leading out in a group called, "Hands and Hearts" which is a group of ladies who meet for lunch once a month. They work on any projects they want to bring, but the real emphasis is fellowship. Sylvia Barton has a heart for the Nursing Home and takes a group each Friday afternoon to encourage those ladies and gents. Gayle White and Liz Holt have a heart for the Women of Way mentoring program and would like to invite any ladies who want to mentor or want to be mentored to be a part of that important ministry.

As you can see, there are many exciting things happening in the FBC Women's Ministry, but we cannot do these projects without you. The highlight of the evening was when we formed a circle of women. Each woman had one word of the Romans 15:5-6 verse. As we went around the circle each woman said their word. We could not have said the scripture without each woman. We then joined our voices in singing "I Love You Lord" and I am sure the angels were jealous at the beauty of the song.

There will be more blogs describing each event or ministry activity. We would love to hear from you. Please join us as we glorify God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
